6 Month Challenge- Week 2

It is January 9th 2011

By Tuesday I feel awesome. The three flights of steps to my apartment are a breeze, even venturing out to run up the steps with groceries in my hand. To keep you motivated Active2 gives you trophies for different milestones which is a nice gesture. By this week I have earned a few trophies for burning calories and completing a few hours of workouts.

By Thursday though, I am tired. So I start to include vitamins in my daily regiment. My diet has also been overhauled. My doctor once told me that I didn't eat enough and wasn't getting enough calories. I was always so hesistant to force myself to eat more fearing that I would only gain more weight, but eating once a day was doing more harm than good. I needed more fuel in order to continue. So I grabbed three ziplock bags and filled them with a handful of raw unsalted nuts and fruit to snack on at my desk. My coworker is on the health band wagon too. She opted for Weight Watcher's, but with two people having like minded goals it works out. We celebrate each other's succeses and help each other get back on the grind when we indulge in too much cheesecake.

My coworker has lost 3lbs, I will not weigh in until after the 21 days. My job offers free lunches and I now begin to fill a plate with salad dressed with balsamic vinagrette, with a small bowl of whatever is being served for the day. Eating the salad first helps me fill up faster so I leave more of the not so good stuff in the bowl. I keep a 32 ounce bottle at work will I fill twice a day and a 24 ounce bottle by my bed.

After a pretty emotional week of fighting with my boyfriend on Saturday I crash really hard and turn to junk food binging the weekend away. The next week I decided in order for junk food to seem less like a comfort food I need to treat myself daily. So allow a piece of chocolate, or pack a serving size of Quaker Mini Rice Cakes in my lunch bag, basically allotting some space in my diet for the things that are so-called taboo.

The workouts are now more intense. They add a few minutes more for every workout by the end of the 21 days the workouts are 30 minutes long. I am breaking a sweat and I am not sure if my eyes are playing games with me but one day I look in the mirror and I look lighter. I don't want to get on the scale just yet, I have lost 2 or 3 pounds before only to gain them right back.

One week left to go.
